Is exercise and fitness motivation a problem for you?

Fitness motivation, I explain what motivates me and list my best tips for getting and staying motivated

What Motivates Me

One of the things that motivates me is keeping what I have achieved, I have trained for over 15 years now and I like to think I have gotten myself a good physique, this has given me many benefits, so part of my motivation is fear of losing that.

I also love the feeling I get after a good workout, It's a very relaxing feeling which lowers blood pressure and can help you to sleep.

9 steps to getting yourself motivated

  • So the first step is understanding the benefits of exercise, see benefits to exercise, almost all the things you enjoy now will be improved by adding regular exercise into your life.

  • Understanding exercising doesn't have to be unpleasant and time consuming, see the exercise programs page for more info.

  • Find someone to exercise with, you are far more likely to succeed if you have a friend that has the same goals as you, you can motivate each other. Statistics show people who train with a friend are more likely to exercise on a regular basis.

  • Get fit for the right reasons, you should take pride in your appearance, this is a good reason to get into shape, exercising to make somebody else happy, is not the best way to improve your fitness motivation.

  • Make exercise fun, probably the best way to do this is to play a sport, or compete in long distance runs or walks.

  • Have plenty of variety in your exercising, if you just do the same exercises every time, you will probably get bored. See super sets and see drop sets for different ways to train.

    I have given you a few ideas here for fitness motivation, from the list the most important one is understanding the benefits, this is where my exercise addiction comes from, not all addictions are bad.

    Not all of the benefits will be obvious to begin with, you may need time before you can truly understand and appreciate certain things, for example the feeling you get from having a good workout then eating something healthy to fuel your body is a great feelings, trust me on that!
